It’s that time of year again where I feel like my personality is defrosting! The sun is coming out, the snow is finally melting, and I’m starting to feel like me again. As we approach spring, I like to make a TBR to guide my spring reading and I am so excited for this season of reading.
While the winter months had a lot of thrillers and fantasy, I like to move more into romance and contemporary fiction in the spring. And those are some of my favorite books to read. Nothing beats sitting outside on a warm spring day and reading a cute little romance books. I swear it literally brings me back to life.
I’ve created an ambitious list of books I would like to read this spring. The winter months have hit me with a brutal reading slump. I’m hoping some of these books can pull me out of it and help me fall in love with reading again.
Here is the full list of spring books I have on my TBR!
Spring Reading TBR
One of my big reading goals this year is to read more of my physical TBR. So, a lot of books on this list are currently on my book shelf so I can work towards that goal. There are also a few new releases that I am so excited for.
Cleopatra and Frankenstein by Coco Mellors
This story takes place in New York and follows a young artist who moved there in pursuit of her dreams. She meets the male main character, who is 20 years older than her, and has the opportunity to give her everything she needs. You follow these two characters over the years, and from what I can tell this seems to be a character study type book, which also happens to be one of my favorite types of book to read.
I read Blue Sisters (highly recommend!!) by the same author last year and it was one of my absolute favorites. I love diving into the world of complex characters and analyzing everything about them. It’s like medicine for my brain. Needless to say, this one is at the top of my list and I actually just started it today.
Wild Card by Elsie Silver
This is the fourth and final book in the Rose Hill series. The description for this one is very… interesting. It sounds like the main male character is this grumpy pilot, who is the father of the female character’s ex. Sounds very complicated and I am here for it.
I absolutely loved almost every book in this series (the third one wasn’t a fav, but that’s okay). Elsie Silver knows how to write a good small town romance, and I love how the characters of each book intertwine themselves.
Love, Arranged by Lauren Asher
Another book from a series! This is the third and final book in the Lakefront Billionaires series. Lorenzo and Lily have a fake relationship with an expiration date, but there’s also a complicated history to them. So when Lily signs up for this relationship, it catches Lorenzo off guard a bit.
Ummm a part of this description says, “faking it for the public is expected, but falling in love in private? That isn’t part of the arrangement.” HELLO! Sign me up right now. I fell in love with the characters from the other two books, and I am so excited to get back into this universe!!
Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt
I think the bright cover alone will bring me back to life. This story is about the unlikely friendship between a widow and an octopus. They work together to uncover the decades old mystery of the window’s missing son.
I’ve only heard good things about this book. It’s such a creative concept, I love when animals are a key part to a story.
My Husband’s Wife by Alice Feeney
A psychological thriller is not a typical spring book, but it is a new release by Alice Feeney, so I have to read it. To be so honest, I can’t even give you a description of this book because I like going into it without knowing anything. Just know, Alice Feeney is one of my favorite thriller authors and I will never stop recommending her books.
I do briefly talk about it in the 2026 new releases blog, but I don’t want to reread it so if you want a description you can look there. Or click the link below!
It’s a Love Story by Annabel Monaghan
We are following Jane, who has a fake-it-till-you-make-it mantra that is leading her on the path to success. She is a creative executive who may have faked it a little too far as she finds herself spending a week in Long Island with who she thinks is the last man who will make her believe in love. Because Jane thinks that true love is a lie.
Eeeeee I love Annabel Monaghan, this will be my fourth book of hers. The film/Hollywood type setting of her books always intrigues me. This book is a bit longer than her others, so I am excited to see how it plays out.
Life’s Too Short by Abby Jimenez
The third book of the interconnected series, The Friend Zone. We are following Vanessa, a popular YouTuber, and Adrian, the hot lawyer next door. The thing is, these two are polar opposites. And there’s a little geriatric Chihuahua.
It’s no secret that Abby Jimenez is one of my favorite authors. I’ve had this book and one more on my physical TBR for a while now, so I’m hoping to read this one this spring.
After I Do by Taylor Jenkins Reid
Lauren and Ryan’s marriage reaches a breaking point, so they come up with an unconventional plan. Take a year break. One year apart, absolutely no contact. At the end of the year, the hope is that they find a way to fall in love again.
I’ve read books of this premise before and I’m still not sure how to feel about them. Taylor Jenkins Reid is another one of my favorite authors (do you see a theme lol), so I’m interested to see her take on this.
The Score by Elle Kennedy
This is the third book of the off-campus series. We’re following two college students, Allie and Dean, and obviously they have a messy relationship, they’re in college. I started this series two years ago and I need to finish it before I’m well above the college age group. And I’m planning on getting kindle unlimited back, so this is a perfect first read when I have it again.
Spring Book Recommendations
So those ten books above are all my personal TBR and as you can tell I am very excited for them. Now I’ve gathered a list of books I’ve already read, but think they’d be the perfect read for the spring time.
Tom Lake by Ann Patchett
Doesn’t the cover alone just scream spring?? Anyways, this one is about a mother telling her three daughters stories from her youth. It’s a story about young love, old love, and the lives parents have before they have kids.
The setting is in Northern Michigan, and Ann Patchett does an amazing job setting the scene. I’ve also heard that the audio book is narrated by Meryl Streep, which sounds amazing. I highly recommend reading this book in the spring or early summer months.
Sounds Like Love by Ashley Poston
Joni returns to her small coastal town in North Carolina to help spark her inspiration for songwriting. But when she gets home, everything has changed. Her best friend is acting weird, her mom is losing her memory fast, and her parents are closing their family restaurant. What seems like a figment of her imagination, she starts to hear the perfect melody in her head. And suddenly the voice she hears is attached to a random man that shows up in her hometown?
The setting of this one just screams summer, and because of that I think it is the perfect read. Spring is always a time to anticipate summer, and what better way to do that than with a good story. I always lean towards romances in the spring, and absolutely fell in love with this one last year.
The Wedding People by Alison Espach
Phoebe takes her dream tip to Newport, Rhode Island for one last hoorah. She ends up staying at an Inn, but she is the only guest there who is not there for the big event, a wedding. When the bride finds Phoebe, she makes it her mission to ensure her dream weekend is not ruined, and the two form a special friendship.
This is a very tender read, and one of my all time favorites. Seeing how these strangers enter Phoebe’s life exactly when she needs it, and she touches their lives in return, makes my heart feel so full. I truly loved this story and think about it often. Might even be a reread for me this year.
Magnolia Parks by Jessa Hastings
I can’t give book recommendations without including this one. I’m sorry! But we follow Magnolia and BJ and there’s honestly no real plot to these books, it’s more of a character study. Magnolia is the it girl of London and BJ is an Instagram model. They have an interesting relationship, to say the least. If you are a fan of Gossip Girl or Sex and the City, you’re going to love this book, these characters, and this series.
The Rom-Commers by Katherine Center
Oh my gosh this book has me giggling, kicking my feet laughing the entire time. Emma gets the chance to re-write a script for the famous screenwriter, Charlie Yates. But Charlie doesn’t want to write with anyone, let alone a “nobody screenwriter.” It’s basically a grumpy sunshine trope but with screenwriters and I absolutely ate this one up. Anything Hollywood and screenwriting related reels me in, so of course I loved this one.
Spring Books
Reading is obviously one of my favorite hobbies, but something about reading in the spring brings me back to life. I love the shift from dark thrillers and fantasy in the winter to light hearted rom coms and fiction. This season of reading is looking so promising, there are so many new books to be read!! If you want to stay up to date on book releases, tbrs, and what I’m reading, make sure to join the newsletter!! I’d love to see you over there 🫶🏻
